If you have read this blog for any length of time or know me in real life, you know that crafting is not really my thing. Shocking, as a mother of two toddler/preschoolers, I know. But since Brayden has been in preschool, he has loved creating, and I don’t want to hinder that! Lately, he has loved just a pen and paper, but sometimes it is way more fun to have some better crafting tools. I decided to surprise them with the #UltimatePlaydate, with some help from Crayola and Nestle.
The biggest reason that I don’t keep a lot of craft supplies around is because Kenley is a miniature destroyer of all craft items. She has taken permanent marker to the coffee table, crayons to Brayden’s wall, and ink pen to her sheets. I basically do not trust her one ounce around anything that writes! But, thanks to Crayola, Kenley is safe with the Color Wonder markers and paper. These markers ONLY work on special paper– making them the perfect “start” for her.
Not to mention, when I shopped at WalMart, there was a coupon on specially marked packages of Juicy Juice for $3 off Crayola Products! Win, win!
My kid’s favorite “treat” lately are juice boxes. I don’t let them have cups without lids in the living room, but these are OK as long as they are set on the end table or coffee table. I think it makes Kenley feel like she is getting away with something! It gives her a little more freedom while giving me peace of mind that she isn’t having straight sugar OR spilling it alllll over our new sectional. Juicy Juice has long been my top choice in juice boxes for the kids. 100% juice and in flavors they love and independence they crave? I will take it!
Kenley loves to do whatever Brayden is doing, even if she isn’t quite understanding of what that entails! She colors outside the lines (which drives her brother crazy) but she is so cute trying! Watching her gain some independence and develop some fine motor skills has been fun to watch! She is starting to catch the art bug that Brayden has meaning more Crayola products will be finding their way to our home soon!
The other craft item of their choice is outside chalk. This makes me incredibly happy because the mess is contained outside, and I love seeing their bright colored creations on the sidewalk! Brayden was so happy to have a new set of chalk (since our other was completely used up!) and he spent almost a solid 30 minutes playing with it! Plus the Juicy Juice boxes are great for outside (no more lost cups outside) and that means we can take our #UltimatePlaydate anywhere.
