Last week, both of the kids had all day field trips with their classes to round out the school year. Brayden knew last year around this time that his class trip would be to LegoLand in Schaumburg, and he had been saving his money ALL YEAR. Brayden is still Lego obsessed, and couldn’t wait for us to go on this trip. He spent his money wisely, and even got something for his sister and for my nephew. This kid has such a kind heart, and it was so fun to see his excitement at one of his favorite places.
They have a Lego made replica of most of the highlights of Chicago- O’Hare airport, Soldier Field, The Bean, and the Hancock building– just to name a few. There is also iPads that you can tap for more information on these landmarks, including the number of Lego’s used to make them! Brayden loves this part.
The highlight for Brayden is always the Star Wars Legos. He LOVES Star Wars which still cracks me up because neither Brandon or I had ever watched them in their entirety until Brayden got hooked. He knows all of the landmarks, characters, story lines– it’s most impressive. (See what I did there?)
As part of their field trip, they got to take a Lego Master Builder Academy class. In this class, they built a top spinner out of Legos, then had to guess which type of top would spin the longest based on its shape. It was really neat, and the kids seemed to really enjoy it.
Kenley’s field trip was the following day (yes, back to back!) and we headed with preschool and Kindergarten to the local zoo, Mcdonald’s for lunch, then an ice cream treat at DQ before heading back to the school. The temperature dropped about 25 degrees and it rained off and on for Kenley’s, so YES we bundled up!
Kenley and Kasci are pretty much inseperable. They can’t wait to be in Kindergarten together!
Our zoo was the perfect place– not too overwhelming since it was so cold, but plenty of things to keep the kids engaged. Kenley’s favorites– the sea otters, seals, wallabies, Nemo and Dory (of course!), and the singing dogs. This girl is such an animal lover, so it was fun to take her here. I expect another trip or two over the summer when it’s a tad warmer out.
It was a jam packed two days but I am so thankful to be able to go with the kids on these trips! Today is their LAST DAY of school, and we can’t wait to start our summer!
