In our busy come-and-go lifestyle, keeping my kids healthy and functioning at their best is a top priority. I spend time making sure that my health is up on the priority list so I need to do the same for my kiddos. Besides implementing more healthy foods like fruits and veggies and making sure my kids get exercise/fresh air each day, here are three other ways I keep my kids at their healthiest.
Make sure they get plenty of water.
Now that we are passed the point of formula/milk and sippy cups, it’s a bit harder to monitor how much the kids drink during the day. Kenley is still my big milk drinker which is fantastic, but in the summer especially, I want to make sure they are getting plenty of water. I try to drink a gallon of water during the day, so every time I fill my cup, I ask the kids if they also need a refill on their water. Kids are active and need to replenish what they lose just as much as we do.
Kids need to rest, too!
My kids don’t take daily naps anymore either, but will “rest” in the afternoons with their iPads or books, especially if we have had a busy morning. It’s important for them to have a little downtime during the day so their body can recuperate. Good sleep at night is also important for their brain development as well as physical development.
Implement a daily multivitamin.
Multivitamin supplements are a great way to make sure your children are getting the vitamins and nutrients they need to be healthy and strong.
