It’s amazing to me that I have used essential oils sporadically in the last 3 years, and I am just now seeing things completely click.
Let’s start at the beginning: right before Kenley turned 1, I had a massive breakout of hives, seemingly with no cause. No change in detergent, soap, medication- nothing that could be pinpointed. I was prescribed a steroid (that made me gain 7 pounds in 3 days) and I was miserable. The hives ended up being due to stress (I always have a small mental breakdown when my babies turn 1) but I was still an itchy, swollen mess.
I ended up calling Brandon’s aunt who uses Young Living Essential Oils, and she consulted her books and ended up giving me a combination that really worked! I woke up the next morning hive free! I couldn’t believe it. Subsequently, I had broken out in hives 6 months later and didn’t even bother going to the doctor.
6 months later, when we tried to move Kenley from her crib to a big girl bed, things were not going well. I really wanted her transitioned before we moved, but nothing was working. I ended up getting some Peace & Calming and put it on her feet at night. It did help her go to sleep MUCH easier and calmed her down, but she was still coming into our room in the middle of the night. It was great when the kids were sick and had problems going to sleep, and I loved being able to comfort them with the oils.
Here’s a few of the ways I am using oils:
Lemon: I use it in the washing machine when Brandon has greasy clothes, and I add a drop to my water in the morning. SO good.
Grapefruit: One to two drops in my water. It helps boost my immunity and metabolism.
PanAway: Muscle aches, especially after running the 5k.
Purification: helps clear the air of odors, takes the musty smell out of wet towels.
Cedarwood: I put one drop on my forehead before I go to bed at night to promote sound sleep.
StressAway: I roll a drop of this on my wrists in the afternoons and before bed.
Joy: A drop rubbed into my wrists in the morning.
I could go on and on, but I am absolutely loving them! They are making a big impact in this household, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I just dove in head first and I am learning SO much! I love that essential oils have been used since the beginning of time. If you are curious or want to learn more, just email me: I love answering questions!
