Up until two months ago I had never, ever colored my hair.
I will let that sink in.
Never. Colored. My. Hair.
Now, let me explain. My grandma was all gray at around 40 years old, and if my mom didn’t color her hair, she would be, also. My mom had always told me to just leave my hair be, because one day I would have to spend money to make it look natural, and I should just enjoy it while it lasted. So, for 28 years, I did just that.
Tuesday was my second time coloring my hair this way, and I am in LOVE with it. It’s more fun, definitely bolder, and allows me to change things up without trying a totally new hairstyle. I get bored easily, but I am finding that long hair works for me at this stage of motherhood. If I curl it one day, I can use a little dry shampoo the next day and voila! Time saver! Plus, I can do a top knot now– finally.
