Hey, friends. It’s been awhile! Sorry for the radio silence over here, it’s been a busy few weeks. Here’s what we have been up to:
Back to Work
I started my new job on August 14th. I am working at the kids’ school full time as a teacher’s aide, and so far, I am really enjoying it. It’s the perfect scenario for me to be in the building, on their schedule, and they are adjusting just fine. For the most part, they could care less if I am even in the building. I’m still getting up early and getting my workouts in, and we are slowly getting adjusted to our new schedule of earlier mornings and earlier bedtimes.
Kenley is in full day kindergarten this year, and Brayden is in 2nd grade. They are both really loving reading and math, and Kenley is having a blast with all of the fun color days they have had.
Still Working Out
My sister and I recently completed a 6 week Carb Cycling program, and it was definitely life AND perspective changing! It taught me a LOT about food, what my body needs and doesn’t need, and helped me get into a better routine of meal prep before I went back to work. I ended up losing almost 6 pounds overall, which was awesome! The last week was kind of hit or miss due to a family tragedy, but I did the best I could despite the circumstances. I would definitely do it again, and I am still tracking my macros/food in MyFitnessPal. I still have goals and plans, and once again I am so glad that I changed my lifestyle nearly 2 years ago.
Just preparing for back to school was a lot to take in, and our first week back was rough after the passing of Brandon’s aunt. We are trying to get back into some good, normal routines around here, not only for us as parents but for the kids as well. I am definitely THAT mom was a strict bedtime schedule during the school year, because I know that is what works for us. We have had busy weekends including two weddings and bachelor/bachelorette parties, but Brandon and I have tried very hard to be more intentional than ever with the kids. Slowly but surely, we are getting the hang of this new normal for us!
My sister is due in about 4 weeks with my niece and I CAN’T WAIT for her to get here. Kenley is so ready for another girl in the family, and Brock (my nephew) has no idea what is about to hit him.
Lots of things going on here, but I will try not to let the blog become that silent for awhile!
