This weekend is my brother’s wedding, so I have a few things going on PLUS it’s Spirit Week at school for the kids AND their Halloween parties are this week. Oh, and Parent/Teacher conferences. Of course, this would be the week that Brayden would be sick. But just wait…
Monday starts at 1am with Brayden getting sick (so much mucus from coughing led to that) at 1am and 4:30am. No fever, but coughing like crazy so I call the pediatrician and get him in to be checked out. K goes off to school feeling absolutely fine and our day is pretty low key. Brayden has the tail end of a virus and gets an antibiotic since he has ring bearer duties this weekend.
Everyone sleeps all night Monday night (all the praise hands!) and I send them both to school for Disney Day. Elsa decided to wear her cowboy boots and I wasn’t going to argue. Around 8:30 I get a call from the school. Kenley is in the restroom crying, and saying that she feels like she is going to get sick. I tell the principal that I will be right in and in my head I am like “please don’t be sick, not the flu, NOT THIS WEEK!” and head to the school.
I get almost there and my phone rings. It’s Kenley’s teacher.
“Don’t worry about coming, she feels fine. She didn’t want to eat the popcorn for snack.”
I’ll let that sink in.
She didn’t want to eat snack so she FAKED sick. She is 4.
I just can’t.
I’m also torn between laughing at her or crying tears of joy that she isn’t really sick.
